i grew a green thumb!

almost 10 years ago, after my disasterous attempts to grow crotons to add some colour to my drab interiors, i gave up on plants in general.
and then marcus walked into neue hochstraße 49 as its new inmate. this giant of a man, who trods with a thud and broke almost everything, coaxed life out of tiny seeds! as the plants popped up hestitantly, took root firmly, and unfurled their green in full splendour, nourished with marcus-mantra, i watched in fascination. it didn't take me long to realise that the plants are in love with marcus.
admittedly, i am a dog person. buy hey, love is love. dog or plant, as germans would say, "mir ist egal". i don't know when exactly this piece of wisdom was seeded in my mind, but i found myself doing a behavioural study of the marcus-and-the-plant routine.
and one fine day, i started with my mission almost impossible: make plants love me too. i started with small chat. you know, tell them how my day was... and then i started to feed them (after consulting with mr green thumb, of course: don't want to make the mistake of too little or too much). it certainly wasn't easy -- they still drooped in my presence and perked up when marcus handled them. but i continued doggedly.
my big break came when marcus had to go somewhere peaceful to write his thesis. that left me with some quality time with the plants (and a whole bunch of instructions from you-know-who). i charmed them, i fed them, moved them around so they can sun bathe all morning... what they say about persistance is true. one morning i woke up to find our favourite plant, of the cannabis sativa kind, sprouting new leaves, a reward usually reserved for marcus. the tomato and basilikum plants followed soon. yippeee, i do have green a thumb now. (it is no fluke, i nursed totally worn and dried out potted basilikum plants back to their cheerful green!).
thank you mate, you ARE a legend now :)
